Digital-Editorial Internship

Endurance Racing Magazine (ERM) offers an editorial internship program focused on digital and multimedia storytelling as well as PROJECT MANAGEMENT. Interns work closely with the magazines CEO on projects, which may include (but are not limited to)  writing and reporting stories, research, social media, photography, and digital analytics. Further, writers and/or communications experts with an eye for management may qualify to work as our Managing Editor! Most importantly, however, we are looking for people who can write GREAT content.

REQUIREMENTS:
Although a magazine journalism, or English degree, (or working toward a degree) is preferred, its not required. Published clips or writing samples are required. Applicants with a background in communications and/or writing with experience in project management are encouraged to apply. A commitment of 10 hours a week is required. The internship is non-paid.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Is currently enrolled or has recently graduated with a degree in publishing, marketing, communications.
  • Is thorough and detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks at once.
  • Is motivated and punctual with a good work ethic and passion for writing excellent content.
  • Understands how to update web content.
  • Has a keen eye for relevant photography.
  • Is able to interview athletes via phone, skype, email or any means to get the story.
  • Is able to collect and deliver all story assets (content/photography) on time and on schedule.
  • Is comfortable working remotely and delivering content via DropBox.
  • Is able to work with our Editorial Director and Graphic Designer during design and layout.
  • Has great communication skills and the ability to take direction/criticism when needed and apply that to his/her writing.
  • Is available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Design & Production Internship

Endurance Racing Magazine (ERM) offers an internship that works closely with the advertising, marketing, design and production, and digital departments.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Is currently enrolled or has recently graduated with a degree in web design and analytics.
  • Is thorough and detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks at once.
  • Has strong typography skills with the ability to perform tasks using style sheets.
  • Possesses keen design instincts and the ability to make quick decisions about type, image, and layout in order to put together a cohesive and well-designed piece.
  • Is motivated and punctual with a good work ethic and passion for design.
  • Has reliable transportation to our lower downtown office.
  • Has great communication skills and the ability to take direction/criticism when needed and apply that to his/her design.
  • Has good working knowledge of Adobe CS5, particularly InDesign.
  • Has strong familiarity with Macs or PCs.
  • Has basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Is available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
